Group Treasurer for the 1st Cuffley Scout Group

Are you passionate about supporting young people, fostering community, and making a positive impact?  Look no further!

About Us: Our Scout Group is an active and vibrant community that empowers young people to develop essential life skills, explore the outdoors, and build lasting friendships.

Role Overview: Our Group Treasurer supports the members of our Group Trustee Board by keeping track of our money. The current treasurer will show you what we do and ensure a smooth hand over.

  • Provides finance advice and reporting to Trustee Board
  • With Trustee Board ensures appropriate insurances are in place
  • Prepares annual accounts and ensures their timely ‘audit’
  • Prepares a financial report for “This Is 1st Cuffley” our Group Annual Report
  • Involvement in claiming Gift Aid
  • Makes our Group’s annual Charity Commission submission
  • Pays invoices and expenses
  • Manages banking and other financial transactions
  • Keeps appropriate ‘books’ and copies of relevant support documentation

Requirements: We’re looking for someone who embodies the Scout spirit and possesses the following qualities:

  • Previous experience of financial management or the role of a Charity Treasurer.
  • Able to analyse financial information effectively
  • Able to maintain independent and objective judgement
  • Familiarity with Trustee Governance and/or Charity Commission guidance would be a bonus but not essential.

No previous experience of Scouting is necessary. What’s more important is your own skills and personal experience as well as empathy with our mission and values.

This role could also be easily shared with one or two others to spread the tasks and is ideal for someone (or a team), who would like to support local Scouting in a really flexible way but not necessarily working directly with young people. Additionally, all adult volunteers are required to undertake a DBS check and to complete some mandatory training modules (which are available online).

How to Apply: If you’re ready to contribute to our Scouting adventure, please contact
