The course

The Introductory and Intermediate Mountaineering Course (IMC) is a week long.  It’s being held at Lochearnhead Scout Station, the Hertfordshire Scouts Activity Centre in the Central Highlands of Scotland. This calendar entry notes the first of two.

It’s open to all our members who are 13 or above (including adults). No hill walking experience is required prior to attendance, although it’s very beneficial to have some map reading and basic navigation skills. The week, albeit it is physically demanding, is a lot of fun with a balance between enjoying the mountain environment and providing a learning experience. As it takes place over the Easter period you’ll find the weather can be very variable. So if you apply you need to be prepared to go out in the hills whatever the conditions.
