15 – 17 November 2024 (Friday night to Sunday morning)
Let’s Plan for the Green Beret Challenge!
Understanding the Challenge:
- Purpose: A competitive event for Scout teams, testing physical, intellectual, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Format: Four main elements: Orienteering, Assault Course, Challenge Incidents, and Night Exercise.
- Duration: From first light to 11 PM.
- Location: Tolmers Campsite, Cuffley.
Preparation Tips:

Physical Fitness:
- Endurance: Practice running, hiking, and carrying weight.
- Strength: Incorporate exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, and squats into your routine.
- Flexibility: Stretch regularly to improve mobility.

Navigation Skills:
- Map Reading: Learn to interpret maps and use a compass effectively.
- Orienteering: Practice orienteering courses to improve your navigation skills.

Teamwork and Leadership:
- Communication: Practice effective communication and problem-solving as a team.
- Leadership: Develop leadership skills to guide your team through challenges.

Mental Preparation:
- Resilience: Build mental toughness to overcome obstacles.
- Focus: Learn to stay focused and maintain a positive attitude.

Gear and Equipment:
- Appropriate Clothing: Ensure you have warm, waterproof clothing for winter conditions.
- Essential Gear: Pack necessary items like a compass, map, first aid kit, and snacks.
Additional Tips:
- Practice as a Team: Train together to develop teamwork and camaraderie.
- Simulate Challenges: Practice similar activities to the ones in the challenge.
- Stay Hydrated and Nourished: Eat well and drink plenty of water to maintain energy levels.
- Rest and Recovery: Ensure you get enough sleep to recover from training.
