DESCRIPTION:Maintenance Day \nTo continue the extensive ground work and other ongoing maintenance recently delivered in and around our HQ we are planning a spring clean day for Saturday 27 April 2023. \nOur day will commence at 10 am\, with a stop for a short break together with a lunch time chip shop run at about 1 pm and finishing at 4 pm. \nPlan: (some activities weather permitting) \n\nRehang blinds in main hall\nClear debris from various roof areas and guttering;\nPaint exterior of the HQ building;\nPaint exterior of the Annexe;\nPaint exterior of Sea Container\nClear ground and area adjacent to the garage;\nClear sump;\nTransfer surplus wood to central pile – then log and grade;\nJet wash flag pole;\nStrim/mow grass areas;\nCommence ground-work to enhance the fire area;\nChange canvases on marquees\nClean hall floor\n\nOur aim is to allocate a small working party for each work-stream. We’re holding a Big Jubilee Lunch at our Scout HQ. \nYou can wear your best red\, white and blue outfits\, bring your own picnic lunch (and your\nown drinks) and join in the fun. Tea\, coffee and squash will be provided. There will be music\, games\, competitions\, an afternoon tea to share and lots of fun (and\nbunting)! \nThere will be competitions for the best Jubilee Hat (made at home) and a best decorated\ncake competition (large cake or cupcakes). \nThis is a free to attend event for the whole Grou – but we would like some donations of cakes\, biscuits\, and snacks\nfor our afternoon tea! \n

SUMMARY:Introduction To The Hills (Scouts 11-13)
DESCRIPTION:Friday 29 April – Bank Holiday Monday 2 May 2022 \nIntroduction to the Hills (ITTH) is a long established county run event for Hertfordshire Scouts and Guides aged between 11 and 13. It will be held at The Foundry Adventure Centre in the Peak District\, Derbyshire. It is well run and our Scouts have been fortunate to attend in the past. \nActivities include hill walking\, outdoor climbing\, cycling and caving. The cost of £140 includes food and transport. Scouts can attend without their leaders. Visit the Introduction To The Hills blog http://itthherts.blogspot.co.uk/ to see photos from previous events. \nInterested Scouts should email itthherts@gmail.com for further information and an application form.  The closing date for applications is Friday 11 February 2022 but please note that applications are being considered on a first come\, first served basis. All applications will be considered but preference will be given to those who have not attended this event before. \nEvidence of a negative lateral flow test will be required before departure. In the event of a Scout contracting COVID at the event\, collection from the Peak District must be organised by parents or guardians. The event is non-refundable.

DESCRIPTION: \nWe’re planning a Group HQ Maintenance Day for Saturday 26 March 2022.\n \nOur day will commence at 10am and we’ll seek to finish work by 4pm\, followed by a review session at the Plough.\nWe will focus on:\n\n\nRepairing\, cleaning and decorating the Annexe building used by our Explorers;\n\n\nServicing\, cleaning and pitching our marquees;\n\n\nPainting the outside walls of the HQ and other out buildings;\n\n\nFurther leaf clearing\, bush cutting\, and other springtime cleaning and tidy-up work;\n\n\nRefitting the blinds in the main hut;\n\n\nWindow cleaning;\n\n\nTidying and cleaning the HQ\, loft\, garage and other areas;\n\n\nUpdating and refining our equipment database;\n\n\nSprucing up our campfire area and maintaining our fences.\n\n\nPlease indicate the assistance you can afford us by speaking with one of our section leaders or texting 07784 861218 with your offer to help for either for the whole day (with a stop for a ‘chip shop’ lunch) or for part of it\, with an advice for when we may expect you.\n \nPS: If you have access to a workplace charity funding scheme that rewards voluntary work please see if we can get your time with us .sponsored too.\nFor practical and safety reasons\, may we request that children under 10 years do not attend*. DESCRIPTION:  \nThe First Cuffley Scout Group \nCAMP FIRE WITH CAROLS AND CHRISTMAS MUSIC \nSunday 5 December 2021 \n3pm – 6pm \nAt our headquarters and in our grounds. \nThis will be held as a traditional camp fire and will include chants and stunts together with Christmas carols\, camp fire songs and Christmas music.  \nBefore and after the fire you’ll have the opportunity to play our side shows\, buy home made cakes and cookies and purchase and enjoy seasonal ‘street food’ such as hot hogs\, home-made soups\, mulled wine and drinks. \nPlease wrap up warmly and bring a blanket or two. \nThis event is for our Beavers\, Cubs\, Scouts\, Explorers and their families.
