DESCRIPTION:  \n \nHertfordshire Peak Assault 2024\nFor Explorers\nThe layout of the event will be broadly as follows: \n\n\nFriday 11th October: \n\n\nTeams arrive at Phasels Wood from 9pm onwards. \n\n\nTeams pitch their tents (ie: in the dark) and settle in for the evening  \n\n\n\n\nSaturday 12th October: \n\n\nTeams rise and eat breakfast. \n\n\nTeams pack their equipment\, rucksacks\, ensuring they are carrying all required items on the kit list (team and personal) \n\n\nTeams report to kit check at their allotted time. \n\n\nTeams complete kit check and proceed through start grid to receive instructions\, maps etc \n\n\nTeams get 30 minutes to plot their initial points/route on maps \n\n\nTeams board coaches to be transported to remote start point \n\n\nTeams dropped at start point and proceed through start “gate” \n\n\nTeams have 8 hours to return to Phasels Wood via a mix of optional and mandatory checkpoints\, aiming to score as many points as possible in that time. \n\n\nOn return\, teams settle back in\, cook dinner\, socialise and prepare for the next day.  \n\n\n\n\nSunday 13th October \n\n\nRise and eat breakfast \n\n\nTeams pack for a smaller requirement and shorter day \n\n\nTeams report to start point at allotted time. \n\n\nTeams face a series of challenges linked to lightweight expeditions and micro-navigation in the local surroundings over a 3-hour period. \n\n\nCompetition wraps up \n\n\nTeams strike camp \n\n\nCompetition closes and teams depart at approximately 12:30 \n\n\n\n\nThis summary has been taken from the Hertfordshire Scout County Website.

DESCRIPTION:Lochearnhead Summer Camp\nWith Potters Bar District Scouts\nThis year’s summer camp for our Scouts and Explorers will take place0 at the Lochearnhead Scout Station in Scotland. \n \nLochearnhead is a converted railway station that is situated about 30 miles north of Stirling. It features bunk accommodation for up to 60 people plus camping for a further 30 and access to the finest walking country in Central Scotland. \nThe views over Loch Earn give a tantalising glimpse of water-based activities such as sailing\, canoeing.  Cycling along a national cycle route that follows the upper railway line from Callander through to Killin and beyond\, will be available. DESCRIPTION:Parents\, Supporters and Friends\n \nWe’re planning a Group HQ Maintenance Day for Saturday 16 March 2024\n \nOur day will commence at 10am and we’ll seek to finish work by 4pm\, followed by a review session at the Plough.\n \nWe will focus on:\n\n\nRepairing\, cleaning and decorating the Annexe building used by our Explorers;\n\n\nServicing\, cleaning and re-pitching our marquees;\n\nClearance and disposal = of rubbish from the grounds;\n\nPainting the outside walls of the HQ and other out buildings;\n\n\nFurther leaf clearing\, bush cutting\, and other springtime cleaning and tidy-up work;\n\nGrass cutting\n\nWindow cleaning;\n\n\nTidying and cleaning the HQ\, loft\, garage\, gas store and other areas;\n\n\nUpdating and refining our equipment database;\n\n\nSprucing up our campfire area and maintaining our fences;\n\n\nPlease indicate the assistance you can afford us by speaking with one of our section leaders or texting 07784 861218 with your offer to help for either for the whole day (with a stop for a ‘chip shop’ lunch) or for part of it\, with an advice for when we may expect you.\n \nPS: If you have access to a workplace charity funding scheme that rewards voluntary work please see if we can get your time with us .sponsored too.\n \nFor practical and safety reasons\, may we request that children under 11 years do not attend unless accompanied by an adult who is able to take full responsibility for them *. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n \nPotters Bar and District Scouts’  Cyclocross competition for Cubs*\, Scouts and Explorers will be held on Sunday 1 October 2023. \n\nVenue: “The Pits” in Coopers Road\, Little Heath\, EN6 1JG. (map ref 264 023) (beside the Football pitch)\nDate: Sunday 1 October 2023\nTime: between 2 and 5 pm.\nPlease bring your cycle helmet to wear for the event.\n\nThis Cyclocross is a timed challenge and individuals will take it in turn to complete the course through the woods. Cyclists should not be too surprised if they and their bikes get petty muddy if conditions are wet.  All riders will be expected to walk the course before the timed trials start.  \nEntry to this event is available for all Cuffley Cubs\, Scouts and Explorers and leaders/parents. \nIt is expected that the Cubs’ event will start at 2:30 pm and finish about 3:30pm and the Scout event to start at 3:30 and finish at 4:30.
